If you know that the sharing provider's service office is nearby, please ask them whether the item was handed in there. The service office is usually also the validation office for on-site driver's license validation.
Otherwise, please book the vehicle again via the app. Start your booking when you are at the vehicle to open the vehicle and remove the item. Then finish your booking again to lock the vehicle.
